ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Ron Robinson’s formal education includes a Diploma in Architectural Technology from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology followed by a B.Ed. with majors in History and Geography from the University of Calgary. A teaching career followed with 16 years in the area of Industrial and Vocational Education. In about 1993 he began his journey in to Art, with courses from the Alberta College of Art and Design and Red Deer College. He is a member of the Alberta Printmakers Society, Visual Arts Alberta Association, Alberta Craft Council, Alberta Potters’ Association and Counterflux Artist”s Co-op.

Over the past 14 years his Art has tended to be a journey through inter-connected ideas and inspirations that have pushed in to a wide variety of media that include: sculpture in stone, wood, ceramic, metal and mixed media; relief printing and mixed media. He maintains an extensive home studio and currently has over 150 pieces in private collections in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba and the U.S.A. Ron recently retired from the Calgary Public School System where he offered a very innovative 3D Art program. He was a partner in Vanishing Point Art Gallery (Calgary).
