Since 1979, Ron has been developing and teaching innovative and progressive programs in the curricular areas of Design Studies, Fabrication Studies, and more recently 3-D Art and Design. His Education programs have been Facility based and problem solving in their focus, moving from ideation through process to completion and critique.
Ron’s formal education includes a Diploma in Architectural Technology from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology followed by a B.Ed. with majors in History and Geography from the University of Calgary. A teaching career followed with 16 years in the area of Industrial and Vocational Education. In about 1993 he began his journey in to Art, with courses from the Alberta College of Art and Design and Red Deer College. He is a member of: Alberta Printmakers Society, Alberta Craft Council, Alberta Potters’ Association, CounterFlux Artist’s Co-operative and a Partner in Vanishing Point Art Gallery in Calgary’s Crossroads Market.
Ron offers work shops in:
- Maximizing your Facility.
- Project Development.
- Process skills including: Lost Wax and Sand Casting, Glass Slumping and Fusing, Hand built and thrown ceramics, tool making for ceramics.
- Collaborating with Technical Programs for large sculpture projects.
- How to locate resources that will facilitate large scale projects.
