ACRYLIC AND MIXED MEDIA

If we consider the various additives that are introduced to ‘acrylic’ painting, they all become ‘mixed’ media. For me, acrylic is a material, a pigment that I apply to a variety of supports and other ‘stuff’. I find the use of mixed media both challenging and liberating. The liberation in terms of a choice of physical elements that can be used to express a variety of ideas. The challenge comes in developing a level of competency that will allow me to combine these various mediums in a structural and contextual framework.
