The Maquette Series
Line, as an Element of Design, is typically thought of in two dimensional terms.
Moving through three dimensional space, however, a line creates a sense of structure – a matrix. Within that structure is held a volume, which in turn has a perceived form. With these four sculptures then, our only reference to the form is in the line that encloses that form.
In this series of four maquettes, the structure is made of ¼” round bar, wrapped in “tie wire”, then covered with burlap dipped in mix of Portland cement and acrylic polymer.
